On May 15, Gayelene Clews continued her work with Barker, providing an informative and useful session for parents to assist them as they partner their sons and daughters through the examination and assessment journey of Senior School.
Linking her talk to personal experience as an elite athlete, a school counsellor, a coach of many teams and a parent of three children, Gayelene took the audience on a journey through the different approaches to learning that exist and need to be considered, while also outlining the importance of giving each child the opportunity to realise their passion to learn. Most importantly, she referenced the importance of being in your optimum state to achieve well, and also highlighted the need for students to be supported across the range different learning styles that exist. Combined with a range of strategies to manage anxiety in examinations, Gayelene covered a wide array of relevant and interesting material. We thank her for her work with the students and staff earlier in the day and look forward to further opportunities to work with her in the future.
